On December 19, 2014, the Charles Powell Community Center in Memphis, TN had an OrganWise Guys Star Chef Competition. The 10 OrganWise Guys sites were asked to showcase what the sites have learned about healthy living. Participants prepared a healthy entree, beverage and dessert for judges to taste and decide who the winner would be. The judges were City of Memphis Parks and Neighborhoods Deputy Director, Joseph Lee III, MIFA COOL Program Manager, Andrea Hill, and Community Supporter, James Hardrick Jr.
The Charles Powell Community Center participants won 1st place in the competition with their rendition of delicious Chicken Stir Fry with Quinoa, Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Rice Crispy Treats which had been taught and demonstrated for them in a Chefs Stay After Schools class with Chef “T,” a Chefs Move to Schools chef!
Chef Anthony Terrell, the Shelby County School System’s Culinary Specialist, has done many cooking demonstrations and cooking classes for students all over the country with Chefs Move to Schools.
