The School Nutrition Association recently held their 2015 Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Featuring education sessions, chef demos, vendor demos and more this conference is a great opportunity for a chef or interested party to attend and learn about legislative actions, marketing ideas, roundtable discussions, usda foods, nutrition as well as network and meet other school lunch professionals. The ANC features new comers sessions, awards ceremonies and a vendor and allied partner show. The show is a great way to gather more info, sample school lunch foods, network with the industry and gain more exposure to what makes school lunch operate. Membership to the School Nutrition Association is another great way to have the support of the industry as you grow into a school lunch leadership role. The vendor show gives you access to meeting the vendors and talking with them about their needs for help and support from the CMTS side. Whether it be demos, etc there is always a need in each state to support the manufacturers. This could possibly open the door to working with schools as well.
The Connect: Chefs Move to Schools training was developed in an effort to assist USDA with the Chefs Move to Schools Initiative. This training will help chefs figure out where and how they can be of most help while working with schools. View Resources

We are going to need everyone's time and talent to solve the childhood obesity epidemic and our Nation's chefs have tremendous power as leaders on this issue because of their deep knowledge of food and nutrition and their standing in the community. I want to thank them for joining the Let's Move! Campaign.
